With a voice that leaves no one unmoved, hopefully Malin Hässlemark will be the next name on the Swedish country scene to keep an eye on. After many years as the frontperson of the Americana-inspired band Fluru, which captured the hearts of many in Sweden and Germany, she is now releasing music under her own name.”Wildfire” is taken from an upcoming four-track EP produced by Ola Gustafsson (Melissa Horn, Lars Winnerbäck and others), and together they have created an organic and warm EP, where Malin’s music and lyrics come into their own with the help of Ola ability to give each song its very own character.
Incidentally, Malin grew up in Hammarstrand (Jämtland, the north of Sweden) and was already enchanted as a child by her father’s records, containing among others Waylon Jennings & Emmylou Harris – two artists who inspired her a lot.
Regarding Wildfire, Malin says that it is one of her personal favorites, or as she herself puts it;
– “Wildfire” is about freedom, that no one should stop you from doing what you want. Even the song that made me want to keep writing music, I personally think I got it pretty good here.
