Wildfire EP

With a voice that leaves no one unmoved, hopefully Malin Hässlemark will be the next name on the country scene to keep an eye on. After many years as the frontman of the Americana-inspired band Fluru, which captured the hearts of many in Sweden and Germany, she is now releasing music under her own name. The four tracks on the Wildfire EP is, as mentioned above, produced by Ola Gustafsson (Melissa Horn, Lars Winnerbäck and others) and together he and Malin have created an organic and warm EP, where her music and lyrics come into their own with the help of Ola’s ability to give each song its very own character.
And speaking of what has been achieved so far, we must mention that:- One of the songs has been seven weeks (still there) on the Euro Top 40, a radio list that is compiled based on what is played on a lot of different country channels.- Already received incredibly nice witticisms from, among others. the newspaper Lira; “Impressive solo debut from the Jämtland-born singer in the Americana band Fluru, who here shows a rootsier singer-songwriter side. Four extremely well-crafted songs where something vaguely Northern meets the American South”.- Heard on national radio i Sweden.- One of the songs has been number one on SR’s Jämtlandstoppen.- Featured on several cool Spotify playlists (eg Swedens biggest newspaper Aftonbladet).
Finally, we must also mention that Malin grew up in Hammarstrand (Jämtland) and was already enchanted as a child by her father’s records, containing among others Waylon Jennings & Emmylou Harris – two artists who inspired her a lot. In addition, she will perform tomorrow Friday at the event Pero Älskar Musik, Ö2 stage art, Södermalm, Stockholm.
Regarding her creation and the music, Malin says:
– I finally decided to go all-in on country, which makes the songs feel very much “me”. Like a little piece of my heart, if I’m going to try to be poetic.
