Albatross

Albatross was formed in the fall of 2010 by four friends with a fascination for the craftsmanship that signified rock music 60’s & 70’s. Two years after the formation the line-up was extended, and the sound was broadened when Arvid’s keyboards joined Teodor, Matti, Simon and Johan – the band as it stands today was complete. The group made a name for themselves by backing established artists from the Gothenburg music scene.

In 2013 the EP Disco Blues was released and the youthful enthusiasm of Albatross’ 60’s inspired rock n’ roll first saw the light of day.

A couple of months after the EP-release an idea of a full length album became more and more prominent in the minds of the band members. In the middle of the hot, Swedish high summer the Albatross went to Hyssna, a village situated deep in the dense forests of Västra Götaland, and the childhood home of the drummer, Matti. Long walks in the woods, sharp-shooting with air-rifles and countless mosquito bites set the band in a happy, relaxed mood while recording their debut album “Groovers’ Maneuvers”.

After being mixed by Håkan Svennson, guitarist of Swedish rock-icons Nationalteatern, and Pär Edwardson, one-time nominee for producer of the year at Zeppelingalan, the record came to be a unique take on the distinguished Gothenburg style of rock music.
